Philip K. Dick lived in an enchanted Universe, and it got to be too much for him. But is disenchantment the only solution to too much belief? The point of "Do Androids Dream Electric Sheep?" wasn't to prognosticate about future technologies, but to ponder the only question that matters, "What are we doing here?". What makes us human is our intention towards and about our lives, which Heidegger pointed out comes from our "being-towards-death." Roy Batty's intention towards and about his being seems to be derived, like ours, from his awareness of his death and his desire to push against that limit. In this Episode, James and I discuss James's "Tannhauser Gate" entry in his "Midnight Radio" project. Join us on our journey to re-enchant stuff, starting with the radio.
